Lumics Pricing Model
Lumics pricing is straightforward and transparent. We believe in a cost plus margin model. We believe that integrity in pricing is critical to establishing long-term, mutually-beneficial relationships of trust. We want you to save as much money as possible, while also running a sustainable business ourselves.
When comparing Lumics against our competitors, keep Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) in mind, not just the price per device per month. With Lumics you get:
- NO Setup Fees or Implementation Fees.
- NO expensive hardware to purchase or maintain.
- NO cost for Customer Support (Lumics includes support in our core pricing).
- NO extra cost for IPAM, Config Management, or syslog. Lumics includes all of these in our core pricing.
License Types
Lumics has several license types. We charge based on the number of devices you want to monitor, and the types of monitoring you want to do on those devices.
We also include a few very valuable things (syslog, IP Address Management, and Probe) in our base pricing that our competitors charge extra for, creating even more potential for cost savings when switching to Lumics.
Base License
The Lumics Base License includes standard monitoring protocols like SNMP, WMI / WinRM, and syslog. It also includes IPAM, Probe (Ping+) functionality, and some additional monitoring information (we access via APIs) from devices that don’t send SNMP data, or whose SNMP data is not very useful.
The Base License includes up to 100K syslogs per day, pooled across all your base license devices. This allows for some devices to go over the threshold while other devices are under the threshold without you incurring overage charges.
Base Licenses are typically used for Firewalls, Load Balancers, Routers, Switches, Servers, Wireless Controllers, Access Points sending SNMP data, WAN Optimization devices, 802.1x devices, and Power Distribution Units. Stacked devices are typically counted as a single device as well.
With Lumics Base Licenses we also include IP Address Management, allowing you to ditch the spreadsheets and keep all your IP addresses organized and managed inside the platform.
NetFlow Add-On
NetFlow monitoring can be added to any Base license device that supports it, for an additional charge. However, our Base License + NetFlow Add-on are still often much cheaper than the competition’s licenses that include NetFlow.
The NetFlow Add-on allows for up to 5 million flows per day, per device. Like our syslog limits, NetFlow is pooled across all your devices so you can have some going over the limit while others are under the limit, and you can still stay under the net total flow allowance without incurring overage charges.
Advanced Device Licenses
Lumics Advanced Device Licenses are required for complex devices that generate a large amount of data and/or are grouped together in clusters.
Examples of devices that would utilize an Advanced License include Virtual Hosts or Nodes (not individual virtual machines), Storage Clusters, Databases, and Cisco Voice Hosts. Many of our customers realize significant cost savings with their virtual environments because we don’t charge per component or per virtual machine like many of our competitors do.
Probe (Ping +) License
Lumics does something very unique with respect to ping-only devices. Lumics has what we call a “Probe” license, which is more than just ping. In addition to the basic up/down status monitoring, a Lumics Probe License includes TCP port checks and HTTP ping, as well as latency and packet loss data.
Instead of sending a single packet like most ping-only monitors do, Lumics sends a flurry of packets (24 packets every 6 seconds) which allow us to track latency and packet loss on these types of devices where many competitors are only monitoring up/down current status with no historical data.
Lumics includes a group of Probe Licenses with each Base License, which means for most Lumics customers Probe monitoring ends up costing them nothing. For customers with a large number of ping devices, additional Probe licenses can be purchased at a nominal fee, with volume discounts.
