Invisible
The movie Invincible hit theaters the last weekend of August, twenty years ago.
So, the Lumics movie poster of the week is “Invisible” 🏈
Vince Papale was invisible – an everyman – until he did something extraordinary.
IT teams are mostly invisible too, but ironically it’s because they’re doing extraordinary things every day (and night and weekends and holidays).
When everything is working, nobody notices.
The network is fast.
The servers are healthy.
The applications respond.
The business keeps moving.
And somewhere behind the scenes is an IT team making sure it stays that way.
They may not be the people scoring the touchdowns, but they’re keeping the lights on, protecting the field, reading the defense, and making adjustments before anyone else even realizes there’s a problem.
IT teams routinely face aging infrastructure, unexpected failures, impossible timelines, limited resources, 2:00 AM alerts, and problems nobody saw coming.
And somehow, they keep finding a way.
Sometimes it’s a small victory nobody outside the team will ever know happened.
Sometimes it’s an absolute miracle that keeps the entire business running.
Lumics was built for those teams.
We give IT professionals and MSPs the visibility they need to discover what’s out there, understand how it’s connected, spot problems others miss, and troubleshoot faster—with network and infrastructure monitoring, topology mapping, min/max graphing, NetFlow, syslog, configuration management, IPAM and more working together.
🎬 Fun fact:
Invincible is based on the remarkable true story of Vince Papale, a 30-year-old Philadelphia bartender and part-time teacher who earned a spot with the Philadelphia Eagles after attending an open tryout in 1976.
He went from someone virtually nobody expected to make the team to playing three seasons in the NFL.
Seems pretty appropriate for all those underdogs quietly doing extraordinary things behind the scenes.
Here’s to the invisible teams keeping everything running—and helping the business win. 🏈
We see you.
