Alerts and Events
TL;DR
Lumics alerts are highly configurable with many options to trigger them.
Alerts are the heart of a monitoring system, but you also want to avoid the noise.
Alerts can be automated to send at specific times depending on event type.
Different alerts can be sent to different roles depending on the type of information they are based on.
Alerts can be sent to various communications platforms outside of Lumics, including SMS, email, Slack, Teams, PagerDuty, OpsGenie, and almost any other via rest API and our webhook.
Configurable
Lumics tracks thousands of different variables from all the different devices and components that comprise your network. You can set up alerts and trigger actions based on almost any combination of data, within the thresholds you expect.
You decide what types of events should trigger alerts, when those alerts should be sent, how they should be delivered (in-app or externally via various communications platforms), and who they should be delivered to.
Avoid the Noise
The drawback to being able to create alerts and trigger actions for thousands of different points of data, is creating alert fatigue or noise for you or other members of your team. If you get too many alerts that aren’t critical or are inaccurate, the tendency is to start ignoring the alerts or muting them.
Lumics allows you to add intelligent controls to alerts to avoid the noise and focus on the most urgent or important bits of information. You can still track and record everything so you can search for answers later without having to wade through hundreds of unimportant messages.
Lumics has device dependency intelligence for alerts as well, so if an upstream device fails or is having issues, alerts for related issues on downstream or dependent devices can be muted or combined with the alert from the upstream device.
You can acknowledge alerts permanently or temporarily mute them – which is tracked in the system for future reference – allowing you to focus on the most important things immediately and circle back to items that are less time-sensitive.

Scheduled
You can choose when any alert is generated and when it is displayed or sent to other people. Urgent issues can generate alerts instantly and be displayed prominently within the system in a tray that floats next to all other views (dashboards, reports, admin setup, etc), as well as being sent via SMS, email, Slack, other other communications tools.
Less urgent alerts can be collected and stored but not trigger urgent responses or be sent via external comms channels.
Alerts can be paused for scheduled maintenance periods or can be set up to not be sent via external channels during the night or on weekends or holidays unless they are critical.
The Right Info for the Right Person
Specific types of alerts can be sent to any individual or group you identify in the system. Alert different people based on the urgency, the source (physical server, firewall, access point, virtual server, database, website, voice, etc), or severity.
Share specific types of alerts with vendors, partners, customers, or executives to keep them in the loop.
With Lumics you have control of who is notified, when, and how for any type of event.
Integrations
Lumics alerts are not only visible and can be acknowledged within the system, but can be sent to any individual or group via SMS, email, Slack, PagerDuty, and OpsGenie. Lumics also has well-defined APIs for alerts and actions so you can create your own custom integrations using our webhook.
